Why we built this calculator

Every FSM vendor publishes a cost calculator. None of them compares fairly against competitors. ServiceTitan's calculator won't tell you Jobber is 10x cheaper. Jobber's calculator won't tell you FieldPulse handles offline mode better. Housecall Pro's calculator won't tell you Workyard solves time tracking more cheaply.

This calculator does. We have no vendor agenda — affiliate revenue is split across all four tools, so our incentive is to recommend what actually fits your operation, not what pays us the most.

How the calculator works

We use verified pricing data from each vendor's published page where available (Jobber publishes all tiers; Housecall Pro publishes Basic; FieldPulse and ServiceTitan don't publish US pricing). For unpublished tiers, we use contractor-reported figures from r/HVAC, r/Contractor, and pricing-research aggregators.

The recommendation engine weighs three things:

  1. Team size — different tools dominate different size ranges
  2. Priority — cheapest, balanced, or feature-rich
  3. Hard requirements — offline mode, equipment tracking, multi-location, etc.

We don't recommend ServiceTitan for shops under 10 techs. We don't recommend FieldPulse for solo operators. These aren't accidents — they're based on real economics, not affiliate maximization.

  • Housecall Pro pricing: Basic tier published; Essential and Max tier figures estimated from contractor reports on r/HVAC and pricing aggregators
  • FieldPulse pricing: US pricing is quote-based. Figures derived from FieldPulse NZ public pricing page ($85 base + $15/service agent + $30/manager)
  • ServiceTitan pricing: Not published by vendor. Figures use $350/user midpoint of contractor-reported $200-$500 range + $10K implementation midpoint of $5K-$15K range

Is this calculator really unbiased?

We earn affiliate commissions across all four tools listed. The recommendation engine prioritizes fit, not affiliate revenue. We deliberately recommend Jobber for most small operations even though ServiceTitan pays significantly higher affiliate fees per conversion.

How accurate are the cost estimates?

Jobber estimates are precise (vendor publishes pricing). Housecall Pro Basic is precise; Essential and Max are estimates within ±15%. FieldPulse and ServiceTitan estimates are within ±25% of actual quotes due to non-public pricing models. For ServiceTitan specifically, always get a written quote before committing.

Does the calculator account for add-ons?

Base pricing only. Add-ons (Jobber Marketing Suite $79/mo, Housecall Pro Instapay 1%, ServiceTitan Marketing Pro, etc.) are not included. For most HVAC operations, add-ons add 10-30% to base cost.

What about Workyard?
